Join Claire Cowling of Thrive Floristry for a full day exploring the creative world of floral accessories.
From delicate wearable flowers to statement pieces, this workshop is all about thinking beyond the traditional bouquet and exploring the many ways flowers can be incorporated into wedding work, events, fashion, editorial floristry and special occasions.
With more than 35 years’ experience in the floristry industry, three RHS Chelsea Gold Medals and a career creating flowers for weddings, events, celebrities and brands, Claire will share the techniques, tricks and practical knowledge that come from years of working with flowers in all sorts of settings.
This is a hands-on day for florists who want to develop their skills, explore new ideas and add something a little different to their floristry repertoire.
We’ll look at the practicalities of working with flowers away from the traditional vase or bouquet — considering how to make accessories that are beautiful, wearable and, importantly, fit for purpose.
On the day we'll explore:
Creating floral accessories using fresh and seasonal flowers
Different ways of incorporating flowers into wearable designs
Techniques for making floral pieces secure, comfortable and practical
Mechanics and construction
Working with flowers, foliage and other natural materials
Creating delicate pieces as well as more statement designs
Ideas for weddings, bridal parties, events and editorial work
How to adapt techniques and designs for your own clients and commissions
Getting the most from your flowers while creating designs that feel natural, contemporary and beautifully considered
There will be demonstrations from Claire, followed by plenty of hands-on creating and the opportunity to ask questions, try different techniques and develop your own ideas.
 
More than just a pretty flower, Floral accessories can be a wonderful addition to a florist's repertoire, whether you're looking to offer something new to your wedding clients, create memorable pieces for events or simply broaden your creative skills.
This workshop is not about making an exact copy of Claire's designs. It's about learning the techniques and mechanics behind floral accessories, understanding what works — and then using that knowledge to develop your own designs and ideas.
