APRIL
Spring Design Challenge!
Create a range of bouquets and arrangements using only locally grown stems. This is your chance to embrace the energy of the season—celebrating what’s naturally available, encouraging fresh thinking, and showcasing the fleeting beauty of spring at its peak.
Let the abundance of new growth guide you. Work with the textures, scents, and movement that only spring can offer, and use this as an opportunity to experiment with new techniques, looser styles, and more naturalistic designs.
Think soft, vibrant, and full of life—Tulips, Ranunculus, Hellebore, Narcissi, Stocks, Muscari, Anemone, Snaps… paired with characterful British-grown foliages, budding branches, and zingy greenery. Consider how these materials interact—layering colour, playing with form, and highlighting the charm of each stem in its prime.
Push yourself to see familiar flowers in new ways. Could you highlight their natural shape? Create contrast with texture? Or design something that truly captures the feeling of spring unfolding?
What seasonal stems are inspiring you right now? What are your favourites to design with?
Mine are Ranunculus... no wait, maybe Hellebore, too many favourites to list just one!
