Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience:
this is the ideal life.
MARK TWAIN
Background
In
the UK each year there are more than 500,000 deaths.
Each one of those people is unique and special, and for a
number of reasons. Sadly, funeral flowers have been out of
vogue.
We firmly believe that emotive funeral flowers play an
important part in celebrating life and saying that final
goodbye. Unlike other celebrations, where there is usually
lots of preparation time, funerals take place when people
are under stress, and usually fairly quickly. The family’s
experience of flower giving for these occasions is often
limited to a few design books and selection can be
difficult.
Flowers for Funerals Magazine
Flowers for Funerals Magazine is an exciting magazine that
shows the newly bereaved a huge array of floral tributes
which are fitting & appropriate for highly individual
celebrations of life. It invites them to take their time in
the choosing process, and to see first-hand how gorgeous
tributes can be – whether inexpensive or lavish, from token
gifts to larger family tributes... and allow them to follow
us through the seasons using an array of natural treasures.
The magazine features interesting articles & how tos,
suggestions for card messages, ideas on colour and the
poignant language of flowers. The first two issues of the
magazine are available now. Quarterly production was
originally planned but time constraints have unfortunately
delayed the intention.

Issue
One
Our first magazine showing beautiful flowers specifically
for funerals is a great resource for florists and consumers
alike. Page after page of contemporary tributes oozing with
emotion and style together with lots of handy hints and
useful tips.
"What a beautiful magazine full of lovely ideas which can
be adapted for other occasions as well."
This issue contains feature articles by resident Thrive
Floristry designer, Claire Cowling, and contributions from
guest florists. There is also a section on European
influences which showcases Moniek vanden Berghe.
Comprehensive and sympathetic, the first issue deals with
practical issues such as how to choose a florist,
consideration of the service and suggestions for what to say
or write. The tributes range from traditional wreaths to
contemporary arrangements and include a wealth of
inspiration. This issue of the magazine has suggestions for
and from children, lovers, soldiers, friends and relations.
Continuing the practical note, this time for professionals
working under time constraints to arrange the funeral, the
magazine offers helpful step-by-step guides, a feature on
useful containers and a selection of hard-to-find items and
sundries.
Flowers for Funerals comes highly recommended by
professional florists, who comment on the importance of
having inspiring designs to hand during a difficult period
of time. Numerous florists have also commented that it's an
invaluable guide to share with customers (and prospective
customers) to ease their decisions and to demonstrate
tangibly their forward-thinking and reliable reputations.
Issue
Two
The second issue of the magazine built on the dramatic
success of the first and continued its respected format.
Flowers for Funerals Issue Two has already become famous for
its outstanding and unique article, "Bikers Do It
Differently", one of the first UK reports on truly
customising funeral flowers for the service, hearse and
grave.
Other articles in the second magazine included a number of
winter and Christmas designs to ensure that the funeral
flowers are seasonal and appropriate. But this doesn't
always mean rich, deep colours heavy with foliage: both
tulips and chrysanthemums make an appearance in this issue.
The European Influences section of the second issue features
the renowned Life3 trio. (Per Benjamin, Max van de Sluis and
Tomas de Bruyne). The featured arrangements are intricate,
delicate and oh-so-decadent.
As in the first issue, this magazine has a series of
practical pages to help you work with and advise your
customers. You'll find swathes of information on useful
products and also a handy plants guide.
